Rockpool BACH ETO
The Boat
The Bach Eto is the natural successor to the Alaw Bach — updated with increased stern rocker, more volume in the nose and tail, a Taran-matched cockpit and seat, and a front day hatch that its predecessor always deserved. The result is a high-performance touring kayak for medium to larger paddlers that handles everything: day trips, multi-day expeditions, rough water, and the kind of varied coastal paddling that doesn't fit neatly into one category.
The hull gives high forward speed through a long waterline relative to overall length. The flatter centre section and chined hull keeps it manoeuvrable in confined spaces and tight turns, while the buoyant bow maintains a dry ride through chop and lifts cleanly over steep waves. The stern volume allows the Eto to accelerate onto waves without burying the nose — it surfs well, catches easily, and stays forgiving when riding. The fullness of the centre section gives confident, predictable edging with high secondary stability, and as the boat leans the stern progressively lifts, making turns smoother and faster.
The cockpit is keyhole-shaped with integrated thigh braces, a snug fit that delivers precise feedback without being restrictive. Rockpool's adjustable plate footrest and GRP seat shell — both moveable in 10 mm increments — allow the outfitting to be dialled in accurately for your build. The front day hatch gives useful on-water access without affecting hull behaviour. Recessed deck fittings throughout, including dedicated split-paddle carriers fore and aft.
If you want a versatile, fast, all-conditions sea kayak that doesn't require you to specialise, this is probably the most complete boat Rockpool makes.

Construction
Standard — Time-proven hand-laid construction using polyester resin, chopped strand and woven fibreglass. Robust, hard-wearing, and the right choice for most paddlers.
Premier — Vacuum-infused epoxy resin with carbon and aramid (Kevlar) cloth on both deck and hull. Produces a superior strength-to-weight ratio — approximately 5 kg lighter than Standard at equivalent strength. Recommended for paddlers covering serious mileage or carrying the boat frequently.
