Rockpool ISEL
The Boat
The Isel was built around a single premise: smaller paddlers deserve a performance sea kayak that actually fits them, not a scaled-down compromise. The deck is lowered to give proper thigh contact, the cockpit is snug, and Rockpool's adjustable seat and footrest system — moveable in 10 mm increments — allows precise positioning that larger boats can't offer a smaller paddler. The result is a boat that delivers the same level of physical feedback and control that bigger paddlers take for granted in bigger hulls.
The hull transitions from a V at the bow entry through rounded sections fore and aft, with soft chines under the cockpit. The chined section maximises top speed downwind and aids surfing; the rounded sections give a cushioning, dry ride in chop. At 276 litres it is the lowest-volume touring kayak in the range, but the waterline length has been kept to maintain speed — it keeps pace with larger boats. The hull tracks cleanly when flat, edges predictably, and progressively releases the stern as you lean, making turns smooth and accessible.
The rear cockpit rim is lowered specifically to make rolling easy — including hand rolling. Recessed deck fittings throughout, dedicated split-paddle carriers fore and aft. Worth noting: the Isel has quietly found an audience well beyond its intended user. Experienced paddlers of all sizes who want the precise feedback of a close-fitting boat in technical water have discovered it works exceptionally well for throwing around in big conditions.

Construction
Standard — Time-proven hand-laid construction using polyester resin, chopped strand and woven fibreglass. Robust, hard-wearing, and the right choice for most paddlers.
Premier — Vacuum-infused epoxy resin with carbon and aramid (Kevlar) cloth on both deck and hull. Produces a superior strength-to-weight ratio — approximately 5 kg lighter than Standard at equivalent strength. The weight saving is proportionally more meaningful at this hull size.
