Paddle Canada Level 3 Prep - 100 Wild Islands, Nova Scotia

$1,095.00 CAD
Kayak Ontario Level 3

Advanced sea kayaking training in open ocean conditions. Four days in Nova Scotia's 100 Wild Islands — tidal water, swell, rock gardens, and the kind of decision-making that Level 3 demands. This is preparation for a Paddle Canada Level 3 assessment, not the assessment itself.

Level 3 is about more than strokes. It's decision-making, seamanship, and resilience in dynamic coastal environments. You'll refine technique, practise real-world rescues, and take on leadership challenges that build toward assessment readiness.

Questions

Is this a Level 3 assessment?
No. This is a preparation course — structured training to build toward assessment readiness. Your coaches will give you honest feedback on where you stand and what to work on before attempting an assessment.
Do I need my own kayak?
Performance fibreglass sea kayaks are available. You're welcome to bring your own — it should be a responsive hull with two bulkheads, suitable for dynamic conditions.
Where do I stay?
The course runs from Norse Cove on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore. Camping is available on site — arrange directly with Norse Cove. Other accommodation in the area is up to you.
What about food?
Food is not included. Bring your own meals, snacks, and water for full days on the water. Local food stops may happen when time allows.
Do I need to be able to roll?
No. Rolling is part of the course and we'll work on it, but it's not a prerequisite. Many paddlers at this level are still developing their roll — that's exactly what this training is for.
How physical is this course?
Very. Four days of advanced paddling in ocean conditions with long days on the water and evening theory sessions. You should be fit enough for sustained effort in dynamic water over multiple consecutive days.
